According to our calculations, together we can prevent around 390 kg of biodegradable waste from ending up in landfills every year. We started collecting all the organic waste from the office, in particular coffee grounds, tea bags, peels and fruit scraps, and adding it to a special compost bed where we grow herbs, strawberries, and vegetables. By harvesting the compost and adding it to the soil, we also increase the carbon content of the soil and nourish the plants. As they grow, they absorb additional CO2 from the air through photosynthesis.
And it cost us only a little effort!
